After soliciting help from a few of my male friends with the assembly and mounting of this thing, I found myself sorely on my own.After unboxing all of the securely packaged pieces, I felt overwhelmed. I was certain it would be impossible to assemble and mount alone. But I'm pleased to report that all it took was a little concentration and determination. Before I knew it, I'd done it.The unit is a little heavy but I was able to haul it up the stairs by myself. Truth be told, the shelf is heaviest when it first arrives in its tall freight like packaging.Though not real wood, the quality is still amazing. It's very sturdy, I honestly see it lasting a lifetime if cared for.It took me two days and two trips to Lowes to acquire a stud finder and a power drill to finish, but not for level of difficulty. Rather a lack of time. I'd say 4 hours total. The most difficult aspsect of the project was mounting the shelf to the wall. I'd never screwed a bolt into a stud before, it was hard but I did it. Making sure the holes were evenly spaced must be carefully done too for obvious reasons. I used a tape measure because I don't have a ruler, and carefully drew a straight line. I didn't even have to use all four bolts in the bracket, two bolts more than suffice. I applied nearly all of my weight to the shelf after I hung it, and it never even buckled. Hanging the shelf to the bracket was a breeze. I heard a literal click and presto, the mount was complete. To all you ladies out there, I picked up the shelf and hung it to the bracket by myself. If I can do it, so can you.My TV is 50 inches, by the way. The shelf is in my bedroom, looks sleek and is definitely a space saver. I love that I can place decorative items on it and whatever else I like. Im thinking of purchasing a second shelf for my extra bedroom and 42 inch tv.Go ahead and take the plunge, you won't regret it.Read more
