The king version of this bed arrived in 4 boxes via FEDEX. The delivery man was very helpful, as our front porch is 7 steps up from the sidewalk. He slid the 3 long (and lighter) boxes up onto the porch & then came up on the porch & helped me get the last (& biggest) box onto our mover's dolly & then get it up over our kind of tall front door threshold. According to the bill of lading the 4 boxes weighed 246 pounds altogether. The 3 long boxes (one for the head- & foot-boards, one for the sides and some odds & ends, & one for the slats) weren't too hard for me to handle by myself, even tho I am 73 now & not in the best of shape. The last box, however - contains all the drawers and the rest of the parts so it weighs more than 120 pounds - you're gonna need 2 people or a dolly or strong cart to move it around. The description says the drawers come pre-assembled. This is true and happily is only half the story about the drawers. The drawers are also INSTALLED IN A BOX OR CABINET! I've set up drawer roller systems before & know this can be a tricky proposition, but for this bed it is already done for you! ...and this is why their box weighs so much. Each pair of drawers in their cabinet weighs about 55 pounds & there are 2 cabinet/drawers sets in one double thickness box with more cardboard and Styrofoam and padding foam sheets and stretch wrap and tape (lots of tape), so you're pushing 130 pounds for the whole thing. Oh, and the drawers have actual dovetailed corners so they should stand up to many years of being pulled open & pushed shut. After getting everything out of the boxes, it took me about 2-1/2 hours to assemble this bed, mostly by myself. It was helpful to have a cordless variable speed drill with adjustable clutch (which I set to a fairly "soft" slip so I wouldn't over-drive or strip any strews). If you don't have the drill, you'll just need a #2 Phillips screwdriver - they supply an Allen wrench for the bolts that need it.Read more

This is a great solid bed and it's good looking. It's not a beautiful statement bed but it doesn't look cheap and it has a nice clean look. It's a little lower than regular bed but I love the height. The assembly was quite easy especially because the drawers come pre-assembled.The only negatives I see is that the new bed smell lingers for a while. After 4 days, I still smell it faintly. Also, they could have made the drawers bigger especially for the king size but it's an okay size.I have a tempur-pedic mattress and the slats are about 3" wide and I ended up getting a 5mm ply wood board from Lowes for $35 or so. Lowes cut it to my measurement, which saved lots of work.

This bed is very well made, and yes it's real wood. Assembly is fairly easy, but it's definitely a 2 man job and you're going to want to assemble it where you intend to use it because it's very heavy. Unlike other reviewers, I have no issues with the drawers. They feel just as solid as the rest of the frame. Each drawer will fit about 2 sets of sheets. Take note: the bed comes in four boxes. When mine was delivered, I got 2 boxes one day, and 2 boxes the next day, so don't start putting it together until you have all 4 boxes.

I wanted something that looked similar to a good RH frame, but didn't want to pay $3k for it. This was a pretty good pickup, with only minor gripes.Pros:1. Looks great, color is beautiful2. Cubby holes are a great feature! They also come pre-assembled, saving a heap of time3. Unique platform look4. Slats were held together by stapled fabric, very easy to throw the whole string of them onCons:1. Headboard could be thicker. Seems slightly wobbly and isn't very thick/sturdy. I worry putting too much weight on the headboard could hurt the wood.2. Doesn't appear to be very flush. I had to physically lift the entire frame to get some screws to go in. Much cursing and sweating during assembly is required3. For #2, I'm worried eventually the frame will tear itself apart over time if it's not flush4. Assembly was absolutely horrible. The steps are clear, but getting the washers and screws in for the odd angles is a nightmareSome extra cons that weren't related to the product:1. I asked the seller upfront if I needed extra tools and the seller said no. Great joke, I needed a Phillips and an Allen wrench (wrench should be included but wasn't..)2. Box came completely tore up with packing material falling out3. Big chunk of wood missing from one of the insides of the beams. It's on the inside so I don't care, but that's pretty lame, it should've been obvious it was defective.Overall at the price it was an okay buy. I saw it on sale elsewhere on the Internet for $800 (after I bought it of course!) and that felt like a better price point for the cons given. I'm happy regardless, just not looking forward to next time I have to move it, and the quality downsides weren't great.Read more

Like the headline says I ordered the fantastically amazing Melbourn Canopy Bed in uber California Kind size so I could enjoy a bed so big it has its heads and tows on two different continents. I won't rant on like some youtube cooking video but I will say this... THIS THING DIDN'T COME WITH ANY BOLTS, SCREWS, OR INSTRUCTIONS?!? Now I have to explain to my GF why we have to sleep on the floor and that we need to pull the ripped-up boxes out of the fire pit, duct tape them together as best we can, and send them off to the amazon commerce gods for destruction. I pleaded with the Amazon folks and they stated I had to contact the manufacturer and I was all like... WHAT?!?Farewell bed and wish we could have spent more time together but I guess it was never meant to be *crys*

California King

A California King Size bed is usually 72 inches wide and 84 inches long. At 7 feet tall the California King Bed is ideal for most of the tall sleepers, in certain scenarios a California King Size bed can also be referred to as a Western King mattress that is specifically designed to accommodate anyone who is more than 6 feet tall as it offers more leg room for tall people. Aside from the slight difference in length and width by 4 inches a California King Sized bed has a lot in common to a regular King Sized bed such as they both provide unmatched comfort and room for couple, and also they are in the same price range. In case you are 6 feet tall you will definitely find the California Size bed more comfortable than any other standard bed mainly due to the extra legroom, plus I would definitely recommend you to get yourself a California King Size bed.

King

A king size bed is the largest standard bed that you will find in the market plus it measures 76 inches by 80 inches, making it a great and popular choice among couple. Single sleepers with the proper finances also enjoy the luxury and comfort of having a huge bed all to themselves. The King Size bed also comes in different variations which are the California size bed that’s 4 inches longer than a normal king size bed and 4 inches narrower, another variation is the California king size bed, the ideal choice if you are sharing your bed with someone who is more than 6 feet tall. If you are couple looking for a bed with extra comfort and space for the both of you I would highly recommend the King size bed as it’s a combination of unmatched comfort and luxury.

Black

When trying to open up a smaller bedroom most people often think about bright colors with light hues, but also there is a stronger advantage for going darker and there is no better way to do that than with a black bed. Black is known to amplify small spaces and also set the right mood in your bedroom space. A black colored bed makes your bedroom fell more intimate and special in ways that you could have never imagined before, something that you would never achieve with any of those bright colors. There is nothing as important as setting the right mood in your bedroom especially if you are a couple since it’s the base of your relationship romantically. A black bed adds a touch of intrigue but still blends right into the bedroom décor colors creating a timeless look.

Drawers

A cluttered bedroom is not pleasing and relaxing at all. Sometimes, though your things are well-organized, seeing them still makes your space crowded. Two options are available: throw away your stuff or upgrade your regular bed into a drawer or storage bed. For sure, you will choose the latter, right?

Space-saving and multifunctional, drawer beds can make you feel like you don't need shelves and cabinets anymore. They come with 2 drawers, 4 drawers, 2 full and 2 half drawers, or end drawers built in the bed frame. Full ottoman and half ottoman are also available, where the entire bed offers hidden storage space. Drawer beds can also benefit your stuff since they are hidden, they won't accumulate dust. Finding them can also be easy for you because you have just one place to look at. After all, a tidy room can make your sleep better and more comfortable. And, yes, there's no such thing as too much storage.

Metal

One of the most asked question when it comes metallic beds is, are they safe for younger children? And the answer is always, yes they are. One of reason to why metal beds have grown in popularity over the last couple of years is the fact that they require less maintenance since as we all know metal does not dent or scratch easily making it even a more attractive option as compared to wooden and plastic beds. When it comes to durability also metal beds are currently the most durable beds in the market more durable than the wooden beds and would even handle more weight than a wooden bed frame. Metal beds are also highly portable since they are lighter than other types of bed, and in case you are the kind of person who love rearranging their bedroom setup you will definitely love the metal bed.

Single Material

When you need to kick back and unwind on your own, you need a single-material bed. Single-material beds are an excellent choice for anyone that likes simplicity and practicality. Without combining materials, you get a clean and uniform looking bed that will match any bedroom. The con of a single-material bed is that they won’t stand out as much as other beds, but this can also be a pro as well, as it means they’ll easily blend into any room and not take attention away from other features that are nearby. The single-material is recommended if you’re after a bed for a minimalist setting, something that looks very simple and neutral - then you’re going to be satisfied by the single-material bed. Single-material beds also look great when you have two separate beds in the same room - the single-material look really gives the room a strong, matching and consistent appearance.

Solid Wood

When you're after a classy, reliable and natural look for your bed - you need the solid-wood style. This style of bed is nostalgic and will be a great match for any bedroom setting. You can not go wrong with a solid-wood bed. Whether it's fitting into an elegant and inspiring bedroom that's complete with scented candles, or into a main bedroom that has a focus on simplicity and minimalism - the solid-wood style bed will be the perfect choice for everybody. With their familiar appearance, they will also feel comforting to any guests that are to sleep on them. Solid-wood frames are a nice, neutral choice - they don’t have a strong and overbearing appearance, yet they still manage to attract the eye in a subtle, comforting way. If you’re after a style of bed that can fit into every setting, yet never steal the attention away from other important features in the room - then the solid-wood bed is what you need.

If you opt to get you kid a bed of his or her own a wooden bed is always the best choice, since they are much easier to clean and maintain since its common knowledge how messy a child’s bedroom become. Hardwoods

Hardwood wood varieties refer to the type of tree the wood is taken from; it has nothing to do with how heavy or dense the wood is (contrary to popular belief!). Hardwood woods are sourced from trees that have leaves and lose their leaves in the winter months. Types of hardwood trees include hickory, maple, oak, birch and cherry (among others). Wood from hardwood trees is usually harder and therefore more dense, as these trees tend to grow at a slower rate. Hardwood is ideal for use in indoor furniture crafting, as it is sturdy and durable. Most hardwood varieties are bright and beautiful in their natural tone/shade, but many take well to staining, finishes and paints. The hardwood varieties offer a cozy, warm look and enrich your bedroom style. Hardwood bed frames are a great way to brighten your bedroom and enhance the overall look and feel of your sleep space!

Mahogany

Mahogany wood is an extremely strong and durable wood variety derived from mahogany hardwood trees. With its beautiful, rich cherry color, mahogany wood furniture is a more traditional style choice. Mahogany wood bedroom furniture will enhance the coziness of your sleep space and will promote a soothing, restful environment. It’s a great choice for bedroom furniture, as mahogany is very sturdy, and the craftsmanship of these furniture pieces is often ornate and distinctive, and typically include thoughtful and timeless finishing details. Mahogany is a heavier wood, so it’s best to assemble bedroom furniture with another person. Once assembled, mahogany wood furniture is extremely durable and strong, so you can rest assured that your furniture piece will withstand time and use. Mahogany wood pairs especially well with a warm red color palette, and will make your bedroom a cozy, inviting space.
