This bed frame was relatively easy to assemble and is very sturdy. I need to mention that it is VERY heavy and could not be assembled or carried by one person alone, unless that person is strong and tall. The headboard is one piece and probably weighs 40 pounds. It looks exactly as pictured in the listing and appears to be made of real wood.Style - 8/10Easy to assemble - 8/10Value for money - 8/10Overall score 8/10

This is a REALLY nice bed at a great price. We did a LOT of online shopping and this bed got a lot of positive reviews on many different sites. I generally do not buy something like this site unseen but.... that was what a lot of other reviewers said who gave it positive reviews which made me comfortable to do the same. The set up was simple -- my 9 year old and I did it together in about an hour -- only because I didn't want to wait for my husband to come home!!! I would suggest that you read the directions all the way through first to make sure you understand them -- they were very vague but certainly understandable if you take the time to "digest" them.I had read from other reviewers that they suggested to put an extra support down the middle slat. I didn't realize until reading another person's review that the feet on the center supports are adjustable. Many people "complained" that the feet didn't touch the floor which is true but there is a remedy -- I wish the directions had stated that![...].Read more

This bed arrived faster than we expected and it was easy to assemble. It is very sturdy and looks more expensive than it is. We look forward to completing our bedroom set with the rest of the Modus products.

I purchased this bed after much research. First, I like the dimesions and look of the bed. It is just about exactly the size they say. The bed does not sit much higher than any other platform bed, with the siderails and footboard at 14.25" high and the mattress sitting about 3" under that. It is very sturdy and VERY easy to assemble-took about an hour and that was taking my time. I was concerned about the middle support from what I read, but it is very solid with the 4 support legs-anybody who only got two should get the rest. I do wish the middle beam ran the entire length of the bed, but it is about 4 inches short of the footboard and headboard-not a huge deal. I was disappointed that it stated it is made of solid wood with veneers, but it has very little actual solid wood. The head and footboard appear to have thick veneers, but the siderails are plywood covered with very thin veneer that could peel easily. One of the rails arrived slightly damaged on one end where the plywood was smushed and the veneer was peeled a little. The packaging for the head and footboards are very good, but the siderails were not protected enough on the ends for me. We decided to keep it as it is hidden in our bedroom pretty easily, but I will be contacting customer service to see what credit we can get.2/21/11 update:After contacting Cymax I was VERY impressed with their service. They asked for a pics of the damage and then immediately had Modus send us some new siderails. When the new siderails arrived they, to, were damaged. This time worse than before. There was a 2" gouge in one rail that was painted or markered over at the factory. Let me be clear-this was not damaged during shipping or it would not have been covered up. This was noticed at the Modus factory and they still shipped it out. Very poor quality control. There was also, still, no packaging around the wood-just a layer of cardboard and the wood rails even rub against eachother inside the box. I contacted Cymax again and, again, they were quick to help out. They even offered us a discount for the trouble. They had a number of conversations with Modus furniture and had another set of rails sent to us with the Modus's assurance they would be packaged better. Well the third set arrived and, again, had more dings-although this time not nearly as bad. After contacting Cymax they offer to try and send more or refund the bed. We chose to just keep what we had and get the refund as it appears Modus is incapable of packaging these properly.I give Modus furniture only 2 stars at this point, but Cymax gets a 5 in my book for their excellent customer service and attention to the concerns of the customer.Read more

My husband and I are plus sized so when we first got this bed (in 2008) we reinforced it with a few extra slats. Also, because we both like firm beds, we added some plywood boards on top of the slates. We do not use a box spring, we just have our mattress sitting on the boards. This didn't take us very long to do and was well worth it. This bed is so solid with just our minor adjustments. We never hear a creak or a crack. The bed still looks brand new and still matches our ever changing decor.

Looks nice. Seems to be a little more sturdy than I was expecting based on other reviews. Much easier to assemble than I was expecting. All the hardware was there and instructions were included. Slightly damaged during shipping but not bad enough to return. The biggest drawback is that it is very difficult to make. The edges of the rails are sharp and the mattress fits so snuggly that it is a little painful trying to tuck in sheets, etc.

Purchased this bed several months ago. Let me begin by saying we are normal sized people. I have now noticed at least two cracks in the wood on the sides next to the drawers. I am afraid these fractures in the wood will continue to get bigger. Not sure what to do or what recourse I have. I really love the design, but it is obviously not a well made product

Tropical

Summer being one of the happiest time of year, there is no doubt why some of us would wish it to remain throughout the year. Hardwoods

Hardwood wood varieties refer to the type of tree the wood is taken from; it has nothing to do with how heavy or dense the wood is (contrary to popular belief!). Hardwood woods are sourced from trees that have leaves and lose their leaves in the winter months. Types of hardwood trees include hickory, maple, oak, birch and cherry (among others). Wood from hardwood trees is usually harder and therefore more dense, as these trees tend to grow at a slower rate. Hardwood is ideal for use in indoor furniture crafting, as it is sturdy and durable. Most hardwood varieties are bright and beautiful in their natural tone/shade, but many take well to staining, finishes and paints. The hardwood varieties offer a cozy, warm look and enrich your bedroom style. Hardwood bed frames are a great way to brighten your bedroom and enhance the overall look and feel of your sleep space!

Mahogany

Mahogany wood is an extremely strong and durable wood variety derived from mahogany hardwood trees. With its beautiful, rich cherry color, mahogany wood furniture is a more traditional style choice. Mahogany wood bedroom furniture will enhance the coziness of your sleep space and will promote a soothing, restful environment. It’s a great choice for bedroom furniture, as mahogany is very sturdy, and the craftsmanship of these furniture pieces is often ornate and distinctive, and typically include thoughtful and timeless finishing details. Mahogany is a heavier wood, so it’s best to assemble bedroom furniture with another person. Once assembled, mahogany wood furniture is extremely durable and strong, so you can rest assured that your furniture piece will withstand time and use. Mahogany wood pairs especially well with a warm red color palette, and will make your bedroom a cozy, inviting space.

Espresso Wood

When talking about coffees, espresso is the strong black one. In furniture and woods, it is actually somewhat similar to that. Espresso is a deep, dark brown color, so dark that it is sometimes mistaken to be jet black when, in fact, it stands between the two colors. If you want your bed to look elegant, go for espresso wood. It will also appear neat because dark color can magically tuck away dirt and dust. When under direct lighting, espresso gives out red hues. Cabinets, tables, and shelves that are in espresso sell more than those in light colors because many people opt for a traditional and classic look. Because of its neutral color, espresso is very versatile. It can go well with any home color scheme and design style. Since it's not black and definitely not a bright color, espresso can be pleasing and gentle to the feeling and to the eyes. It can also make you feel relaxed because of its soothing and coffee-like color, perfect after a long day at work.

Espresso may also be your favorite drink! You will definitely wake up feeling energized just by seeing your bed.
