Pretty good quality beautiful wood, nicely packaged, easy to assemble. I was afraid it was going to arrive looking all scratched up and badly damaged, or just plain cheap-looking but looks pretty good to me! Although, the interior of the drawers are a cheaper wood and not the same as the general exterior of the bed (plain, and unstained unlike the exterior color), which is disappointing but maybe that's why the set is so much more affordable.Another concern was the inability to assemble either with my limited knowledge or lack of tools. However, the only needed tools are either screw driver or flat head driver, everything else needed is included. Thumbs up from this 28-year-old 5'2" female that needed no assistance and just followed the pictorial instructions...took about 2-3 hours, but definitely will be quicker 2nd time around as I've figured some things and have this 1st experience under my belt! Although, one gripe I have is that I think at least one of the drawer rails' designated placement was off as I spent an extra good amount of time (not included in overall time spent assembling bed) tinkering and readjusting to prevent the drawer from making a hideous squeal when I pushed the drawer in at a certain point because it wasn't able to glide in as smoothly as if there was misalignment somewhere - I think i ended up loosening a couple of the screws in order to "realign" and diminish the squeaking as much as I could. Also, the width of the bed is wider than most standard (54") full sized mattresses so you'll likely have a 2-3" gap where your slats will be visible. Someone else had mentioned this in their review so I purchased knowing that it may be the case for me too so it wasn't as big of a deal. I have an oversized (queen) bedsheet so I drape it over where the gap won't be visible, and also help prevent little things from falling under. I have my bed setup against the wall and have the mattress pushed forward rather than against the wall so that I wouldn't notice the gap so much-at some point I plan on making an elongated pillow to fit over the gap, but for now the bed sheet draped over is an OK temporary fix for me!It's been about a year since I've had the bed and it seems to have held up well thus far.. I'll try to share pictures when my bed isn't a mess. I'm only 100# but there have been times when I'd say it's held up almost 400#.Read more

I am very happy with this unit. It's not "fine furniture:" it is easy to scratch if you're not careful and the finish in some areas is a little thin, but it is low cost & does the job I wanted it for: to keep pets out from under the bed and have extra storage. It's down in the shadows anyway so you can't really see the finish up close. I love how sturdy it is. This bed does not wobble like my old metal bed frame did. When you lie on it and move around it feels very solid and immobile. The drawers only go about 1/4 the way under the bed and I wanted the whole bed area for storage, so I did not screw down the slats so I can still access the remaining area by taking off the mattress/slats (for seldom used items). Leaving them unscrewed did not affect the bed in any way. As a previous reviewer noted, the frame is a few inches wider than a standard mattress, but I laid an old sheet on top of the slats and problem solved. I'm an older woman with a bad back but I had no problem assembling this by myself, but I'm handy. The drawer bottoms are a little thin but unless you're storing bricks in them you'll be o.k. I like that there is no particleboard. It's all real wood. P.S. I didn't want to throw away my box spring so I used that and the top mattress on this. My bed is now higher than it used to be, but I don't mind it.

This bed looks great in my daughters room; it's exactly what she wanted. All the parts are documented nicely, the instructions are helpful. The white painted finish is nicely applied and looks good. Despite being a "bare bones" type of bed, there were no frustrations when putting it together that the seller had cut corners unnecessarily -- for example, there are more than enough bed slats included, they thoughtfully include "spacer bars" to help in assembly. The only reason this isn't five stars is for the same reasons mentioned by other reviewers: 1) two vital pieces were completely broken in shipping. The seller responded to my email within minutes and shipped replacements immediately. However, I can't help thinking this is an awfully wasteful way to do business. I now have two large broken pine boards that are essentially garbage. Sorry, tree. 2) the bed is a little big for a full size mattress. I had read that this was the case, and so can't really complain, but it would be a little better if it were correctly sized.

the solid wood is glued pieces of wood which are very light and flimsy, covered with a wood veneer to qualify for the ad on the site. The wood is so brittle that if your screw driver/drill is not set on the right power, you need to guess what the right amount of power is on your own, then you have a screw that hangs in the hole on the wood, or need to find another place to screw it in. No spare screws either :-(Don't get me started on the WRONG DIAGRAM for the drawers/rails. I had to take them off and figure out which one goes with which and through trial/error to put them together. For the money I paid for this, I could have bought a REAL solid wood bed at the shop down the road, have them assemble it and be done in 30 minutes, this one took me several hours! It just looks good on the web, not so much in the bedroom and NOT worth the money, IMHO.

Hardwood woods are sourced from trees that have leaves and lose their leaves in the winter months. Types of hardwood trees include hickory, maple, oak, birch and cherry (among others). Wood from hardwood trees is usually harder and therefore more dense, as these trees tend to grow at a slower rate. Hardwood is ideal for use in indoor furniture crafting, as it is sturdy and durable.
